Do you think I have a Gift?

This is a question I frequently hear when I tell people about the Called and Gifted small group studies I facilitate. The answer is Yes, Yes and Yes again!

The Catholic Church teaches that every baptised Christian has been gifted with Charisms that are meant to be used to in service to the Body of Christ. From the Catechism: Whether extraordinary or simple and humble, charisms are graces of the Holy Spirit which directly or indirectly benefit the Church, ordered as they are to her building up, to the good of men, and to the needs of the world.

This is hard for some people to accept and realize. We are ALL gifted, we ALL have a call to use our gifts in the service of others.

How can you begin to find what your gifts are and how to use them? Begin to explore the process of Discernment…. learn what the Charisms are, learn how you might have been gifted. How can you begin? Start by learning about the Charisms. Here’s a link to a quick FAQ about Charisms from the Catherine of Siena Institute:

Begin the journey, discover and discern your Charims. I promise it is worth it.

Have You Been Called? Then You Have Been Gifted

That’s the way it works. Isn’t it great? God doesn’t only call the gifted, he gifts the called.

Discerning your Charisms (spiritual gifts) can be a life-enhancing experience. Exercising a charism is like being “in the flow” in a uniquely wonderful way. You are doing the work that God Himself has gifted you to do and the power of being a channel of grace bestowed by the Holy Spirit is an amazing experience.
